Terms of Service

Last updated: September 11, 2025. These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and Doorman, Inc. (“Doorman,” “we,” “us,” “our”). By using our services you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. This document is provided for convenience and should be reviewed by your legal counsel.

1. Service Overview

Doorman provides a neighborhood package intake and hand-delivery service. During the pilot, we accept packages at a secure local intake address and deliver them to subscribed residents during designated drop-off windows. The pilot will begin on or around November 1in Greenpoint and Williamsburg.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 and reside within an eligible service area. We may verify your address and identity and may decline or terminate service at our discretion (e.g., repeated missed hand-offs or policy violations).

3. Plans, Billing & Trial

  • Per Drop-Off: $9/month subscription plus $9 per package hand-off.
  • Unlimited: $49/month for unlimited package hand-offs.

You will not be charged until service launch. By subscribing you authorize recurring monthly charges to the payment method you provide, starting on your activation date. Prices and taxes/fees may change with notice. You may cancel anytime as described in Section 8.

4. Package Intake & Delivery Windows

Packages addressed using your assigned “Resident Code” will be accepted at the Doorman intake address. Initial delivery window is evenings 6–8 pm. Additional windows (e.g., 7–9 am or 12–2 pm) may be offered as capacity allows. You agree to be available during your selected window or designate a safe hand-off option (e.g., building concierge, authorized neighbor).

5. Resident Code & Addressing

We assign you a unique Resident Code (e.g., DM-ABC123). You must include this code on the shipping address for all packages sent to the Doorman intake address. We may refuse items that lack a valid code or appear outside your subscription scope.

6. Prohibited Items

We do not accept hazardous, illegal, perishable, temperature-controlled, oversized, or age-restricted items, cash, or items otherwise barred by carrier or law. We may refuse or return prohibited items at your cost.

7. Missed Hand-Offs, Storage & Returns

If a hand-off is missed, we will attempt to reschedule within available windows. Storage beyond a reasonable period may incur fees or result in return to sender. We are not a long-term storage facility.

8. Cancellations & Refunds

You may cancel anytime in writing (email) and your cancellation takes effect at the end of your then-current billing period. We do not provide prorated refunds for partial months unless required by law.

9. Communications & SMS

You consent to receive service-related communications by email and SMS (e.g., package intake, delivery window, ETA). Message and data rates may apply. You may opt out of non-essential messages, but critical service messages are required to operate the service.

10. Risk, Loss & Insurance

We exercise reasonable care but are not an insurer of packages. Risk of loss remains with the shipper/merchant or the carrier per their terms. For packages in our custody, our aggregate liability is limited to the lesser of (a) the subscription fee paid for the month of the incident, or (b) USD $100, except where prohibited by law. You are encouraged to use carrier insurance and signature requirements for high-value items.

11. Service Modifications

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue aspects of the service with reasonable notice where feasible (e.g., capacity, safety, or regulatory reasons).

12. Acceptable Use

You agree not to interfere with operations, attempt unauthorized access, harass staff, or use the service for unlawful purposes. We may suspend or terminate service for violations.

13. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

14. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL DOORMAN BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR LOST PROFITS, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO DOORMAN IN THE THREE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM OR USD $100, WHICHEVER IS LESS.

15. Governing Law; Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflicts principles. You agree to exclusive jurisdiction and venue in the state and federal courts located in New York County, New York. You and Doorman waive jury trial to the extent permitted by law.
